Galty Mountains

An very nice walk that can be completed early. The access is just off the old main road, which runs parrallell to the new motorway near the town of skeenarinky. It is a 30-40 minute drive from Cork city. Closest place for refreshments is one of the shops in Mitchelstown. There is a garage in skeenarinky but was not open when i passed.

Drive north on the old dublin road from skeenarinky and signposted about a mile outside is a turnoff that gets you to the start of the black road.

Drive up 3-4 miles and there is a small area to park where there is an entrance to a farm, the start of the trail is directly ahead.

Allow 3/4 hours, there is a path most of the way until you want to head up galtee mor. For this you will follow the path and when it goes on a long right hand loop you will see a mound of rocks to mark the point where you turn left off the path.
